Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information Take Home Pay Canada (takehomepaycanada.ca, "we", "us") collects when you use this website, how it is used, and the choices you have. This site is operated from Ontario, Canada. The short version: the calculators run entirely in your own browser. The numbers you type into a calculator are not sent to us, not stored by us, and not shared with anyone. We do not ask you to create an account.

Information we collect

Calculator inputs: None. All calculations happen locally on your device. Your income, province, and other figures never leave your browser.

Contact form: If you contact us, we receive the name, email address, and message you choose to send so we can reply. Please do not send sensitive documents (such as tax returns, pay stubs with personal identifiers, or identification) through the contact form.

Newsletter signup: If you join our email list, we store the email address you provide. Signups are collected through a form on this site and stored with our form host (Netlify). We use your email address only to send the newsletter, we never sell it, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email. The newsletter is launching soon; collection has just started and no issues have been sent yet.

Hosting and server logs: Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically receives standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security, reliability, and basic traffic measurement.

Advertising data: Once advertising is enabled on this site, our advertising partners (including Google) may use cookies and similar technologies as described below.

Newsletter

If you subscribe to Toonies & Talk, your email address is processed by Beehiiv (our newsletter provider) to send the newsletter and the welcome email with the cheat sheet. You can unsubscribe in any issue.

Cookies and advertising

This site is supported by display advertising. When ads are active: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices. Google's advertising practices are described in Google's Privacy & Terms at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. You can also disable cookies in your browser settings. The calculators will continue to work with cookies disabled.

Analytics

We use an analytics service to understand which calculators are used and how visitors find the site, so we can improve it. Analytics uses cookies and collects usage data such as pages visited, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. This data is used in aggregate (for example, total page views) and is not used by us to identify individual visitors or to build profiles of their finances. You can limit analytics collection by disabling cookies in your browser settings.

How we use information

To operate, maintain, and improve the site; to reply to messages you send us; to send the newsletter if you subscribed; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell personal information. We share information only with the service providers named above (hosting, form handling, advertising, analytics) for the purposes described, or where required by law.

Your rights under PIPEDA

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you may ask what personal information we hold about you (in practice: contact-form messages and newsletter subscriptions), ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within 30 days. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights have not been respected.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date. Questions about this policy can be sent through the contact page.
